Suzuki Program

Laura accepts students as young as 3 in the Suzuki program.  Students may choose to simultaneously study the Suzuki and Mark O’Connor curricula.

The Suzuki approach follows the philosophy and curriculum of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki who believed that all children can learn to play beautiful music even from a very young age if a nurturing and musically stimulating environment is created for them.  There are no unmusical children!  There are 8 essential components to Suzuki instruction.

In addition to the Suzuki repertoire (books 1-10) Laura uses supplemental materials to give students a more varied musical diet and to teach good music reading skills.

Suzuki students are required to attend weekly group classes in addition to the weekly private lesson.  Suzuki students also have lots of opportunities for solo, chamber, and group performance.  Every year, Suzuki students perform on our Spring Festival.
